Heiming Zhang from Beijing, China
Heiming Zhang and Jie Zhang collaborated with National Geographic China to conduct a thorough study on the rare specimen of a Megamouth Shark. Less than 100 of this specimen have been observed or caught since its discovery in 1976.
The megamouth shark: a rare specimen on the researcher´s desk
Heimig Zhang used the EinScan Pro 2X handheld 3D scanner to scan and measure the body of the shark in order to make the data accessible for more people to understand and study more in-depth this extraordinary rarity of the sea.
3D scanning is a useful tool to make data of organic and fragile specimens widely available for research and education.
